Attorney Matthew J. Baran has been practicing law since 1986 and as a solo practitioner his areas of expertise have been civil litigation, criminal, traffic, family and probate matters. Matthew joined the Walter Clark Legal Group in January of 2018 and focuses on all facets of case development, including client relations, government claims, and discovery. Matthew’s background and extensive and varied legal experience is invaluable to our clients because of his thorough understanding of how to prepare clients and cases for trial, and of how the litigation process works.
Born the youngest of five children and raised in a small town in northeastern Pennsylvania, Matthew attended Penn State University for his undergraduate degree and Dickinson School of Law where he received his J.D. in 1986. His third year of law school studies was completed at Pepperdine University School of Law. “While in Malibu attending Pepperdine, I had the chance to experience the law, life, health, and the weather and I fell in love with the west coast. I have called the desert home ever since.”
Matthew is a member of the Desert Bar Association, serving his second term as a Trustee and he is a member of the Consumer Attorneys of California. Matthew is a past member of the Member Warren E. Slaughter Inn of Court, and has served as facilitator for Civil Collection Mediation Training at California State University, San Bernardino. During Matthew’s law studies, he served on the Moot Court Board, the Justice Action Group, Lamda Alpha Epsilon, Golden Key Club, was a member of the University of Scholars, a member of the Administration of Justice Program and was also on the Dean’s List for all four years of his undergraduate studies.
Matthew has lived in the desert since 1989 with his wife, Sylvia, and their four rescue dogs. Matthew enjoys music, sports, movies, and traveling.
