What Caused Apple Valley Plane Crash?
What Caused Apple Valley Plane Crash?

A pilot and his passenger walked away from a December plane crash in Apple Valley. According to the Apple Valley Protection Fire District, a 1957 Cessna aircraft attempting an emergency landing flipped over in a remote desert area around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 18.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department then deployed a helicopter, which helped firefighters locate the crash scene. They found the plane about three miles northwest of the Apple Valley Airport near Central Road and Johnson Road.

Due to the rough terrain, the rescue team went in using 4-wheel drive SUVs. Paramedics treated the victims, two men in their 60s, on site. They then transported the victims to St. Mary Medical Center.

Plane Crash Victims Lucky to be Alive

Police are unsure why the pilot attempted the emergency landing. They say the plane’s front propeller struck a dirt embankment, flipping the plane onto its roof. Firefighters say it was lucky the plane did not catch fire, because the situation could have ended up much worse.

“It’s miraculous that these two walked away with only minor injuries from a plane crash. We’re thankful for the first responders who located them and rescued them from the crash,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
