Unlicensed Driver Hits SUV Carrying Children

An unlicensed driver crashed into an SUV in Hesperia Sunday afternoon, causing a rollover crash. The crash occurred just after 4 p.m. on Mariposa Road near Eucalyptus Street. According to Sheriff’s deputies, the unlicensed driver was driving a Chevrolet Malibu north on Mariposa Road at a high rate of speed when he crossed into the southbound lane and crashed into a GMC Terrain.

There were three occupants in the SUV, an adult female and two children. An ambulance transported all  three to Desert Valley Hospital with minor injuries. Authorities also brought a female passenger in the Malibu to the hospital.

The SUV sustained major damage to the front driver side, and the Malibu rolled over at least once as a result of the crash. Police cited the Malibu driver for driving without a license.

Do You Have Uninsured Motorist Coverage?

In this case, an unlicensed driver caused a crash that caused property damage and injuries. Although this driver is at fault, the fact that he does not have a license means he was uninsured. Drivers need a valid driver’s license to obtain and keep auto insurance. This could make it difficult for the victims to have the costs from the accidents paid. That’s why it’s vital to carry Uninsured Motorist Coverage (UMC) as part of your auto insurance policy. UMC covers you if you are involved in an accident where the at-fault driver does not have insurance.

“All drivers should carry Uninsured Motorist Coverage. Check your policy to make sure you are covered in case you are ever in an accident like this,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
