Takata airbag inflators have been killing and injuring people in the U.S., leading to the largest auto recall in our nation’s history.

In February, the company pled guilty to fraud in Federal Court, as they had falsified testing data.

The U.S. Department of Justice also filled allegations that the Takata scheme ran about 15 years.

Judge George Caram Steeh, III, in Michigan, oversaw the criminal case against Takata. He wrote that, after conducting “exhausting research,” he selected Robert Mueller, the former FBI Director and former U.S. Attorney, to serve as special master for the restitution fund.

Then, in May 2017, the Justice Department appointed Robert Mueller as special counsel to oversee the investigation into ties between President Trump’s campaign and Russia. It would seem that Mueller will more than have his hands full—or will he? President Trump, as indicated through his attorney Jay Sekulow, would not rule out firing Mueller. In any event, given his credentials, expect that Mr. Mueller will be in demand for a difficult job as a public servant whether the president fires him or not.
