Sheriff’s Deputy Crashes while Responding to Incident

A Sheriff’s deputy was involved in a crash in Victorville in December that shut down part of Amargosa Road. According to Victorville Sheriff’s deputies, a patrol car struck a green Nissan Altima as it exited the Mall of Victor Valley. The Altima then collided with a Honda Civic stopped at a red light on Amargosa Road.

The Sheriff’s deputy was reportedly responding to an assault call at the Dollar Tree on Amargosa Road. Witnesses say the patrol car had its lights and sirens on at the time of the crash.

Besides minor cuts, no one reported serious injuries. Police shut down Amargosa Road in both directions between Bear Valley Road and the entrance to the Mall of Victor Valley. The closures lasted about two hours while police cleared the scene. The Victorville Sheriff’s Station is investigating the crash. It is not yet clear who was at fault.

“Motorists certainly have the responsibility of yielding to emergency vehicles as much as possible. Whether it was reasonable for the driver in this case to attempt to get out of the deputy’s way remains undetermined,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
