Red Light Runner Causes Victorville Rear-End Collision

A driver’s failure to stop at a red light is to blame for a rear-end collision Wednesday afternoon that sent two women to the hospital. Police say the driver of a Range Rover ran a red light at the intersection of Hook Boulevard and Amargosa Road in Victorville. She then rear-ended a minivan that was stopped at the light.

A woman was struck in the crash and suffered head injuries. Reports conflict on where the woman, 24-year-old Andrea Pettaway, was when she was hit. Some witnesses said she was a passenger in the minivan and fell out when the vehicle was hit, but the victim’s sister reported that she was actually walking across the street in the crosswalk. A Toyota Tundra was also hit during the accident but the driver was uninjured.

Pettaway was airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center and the Range Rover driver was taken to St. Joseph’s Health, St. Mary.

The rear-end collision is still under investigation.

Red light running causes thousands of accidents every year. In 2014, collisions resulting from red light running killed 709 people and injured 126,000.

“Running a red light is more than a simple traffic offense—it can cause serious harm to you and anyone in your path. We hope for the speedy recovery of those who were hurt in this crash,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
