Rear-End Crash Sends 2 to Hospital

A rear-end crash in Victorville sent two women to the hospital Monday morning. The crash involved three vehicles. The accident occurred on Nisqualli Road around 11:30 a.m.

According to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies, the two women injured were traveling east on Nisqualli Road in a red Nissan sedan. A black Dodge Ram then rear-ended the Nissan. The impact caused the Nissan to crash into the back of a tractor-trailer. The hood of the Nissan was crushed underneath the trailer.

Both women in the Nissan complained of pain following the accident. An ambulance then transported the victims to the hospital. Officials are investigating the cause of the rear-end crash.

What Causes Rear-End Collisions?

Rear-end collisions account for about one-third of all auto accidents. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), more than 2.5 million rear-end crashes happen each year.

These types of crashes are nearly always the responsibility of the driver who hits the vehicle in front of them. If the vehicle ahead of you slows or stops, you are expected to notice and follow suit. Several factors can cause a driver to miss important traffic cues and cause a rear-end collision, such as:

  • Distractions—especially texting, checking emails and social media, and performing other device-related task

  • Tailgating

  • Speeding

  • Driving under the influence

“A moment of distraction is all it takes to misgauge the speed of traffic and rear-end someone,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
