The justice system has taken a few serious hits since under the Trump administration. Last year, the American Bar Association was told by the administration that the White House will no longer have the American Bar Association evaluate district and circuit judge candidates.

The traditional vetting process goes a long way toward assuring that a judicial candidate is competent and ethical. The Association also ensures the candidate posses the character and judicial temperament to discharge responsibilities.

Unfortunately, a different agenda is now in place, and you should be outraged. But there is so much shocking and disappointing news these days, this one example of complete indifference to the importance of our system of justice may have been overlooked.

Trump Nominates Lawyer Who Has Never Tried a Case for Federal Judgeship

In November, President Trump nominated Brett Talley to a lifetime appointment as a federal judge. Talley has never tried a case. He was also unanimously rated “not qualified” by the American Bar Association. Talley has practiced law for only 3 years. His major credential for Trump was that he pledged support for the NRA.

Worse still, our Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell, proudly noted that this young incompetent lawyer will be a judge for life—another 40 years.

McConnell engineered blocking President Obama’s appointments. Now there are more than 100 vacant seats on the federal courts.
