Passenger Killed in High Speed Crash in Cajon Pass

A woman was killed in a high speed crash in Cajon Pass Sunday morning. The crash happened on southbound I-15 north of Highway 138 around 3:15 a.m. A black Honda Accord traveling at about 80 mph veered left, crashing into a crash cushion. The car then skidded across all lanes, ultimately striking the back of a tractor-trailer in the No. 4 lane.

The woman, 22-year-old Amanda Giordano of Thousand Oaks, died at the scene. Authorities say she was in the passenger seat at the time of the crash. A 22-year-old man, presumably the driver, suffered major injuries and is at a trauma center. A 2-year-old child was also hospitalized with unspecified injuries. The tractor-trailer driver was not hurt.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the high-speed crash. It is still unclear why the driver lost control of the vehicle.

“We send out sympathies to the victim’s family and friends. We’re hope for a full recovery for the the driver and the 2-year-old,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
