Passenger Killed in Fatal Victorville Crash on Highway 395

A fatal Victorville crash shut down Highway 395 for about 11 hours Monday. The crash happened around 9:25 a.m. just north of Eucalyptus Road. Police say the driver of a Honda Civic was heading north on Highway 395 when he lost control and veered into the oncoming lane. The Honda was struck head-on by a southbound Toyota SUV.

The impact split the Honda in half. The passenger in the Honda, 31-year-old Lavalle Ford, sustained fatal injuries. First responders attempted CPR, but Ford was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both drivers, as well as two children that were riding in the Toyota SUV, were taken by ambulance to the hospital for their injuries. The victims could not be airlifted due to weather conditions. Highway 395 was closed in both directions from Bear Valley Road to Main Street until about 8:30 p.m. The fatal Victorville crash remains under investigation.
