Several people were injured in a two-car crash in Adelanto Wednesday morning. According to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department deputies, the crash between a Fiat and Chevrolet happened at 6:51 a.m. on Mojave Drive east of Jonathan Street.

Six people sustained minor injuries in the two-car crash. A minor had to be airlifted by Mercy Air to Loma Linda University Medical Center. Westbound Mojave Drive was blocked off while the accident was cleared.

Auto accidents are the leading cause of death for children ages 3-14 in the U.S. They also cause thousands of injuries to children every year. In 2011, 148,000 children were injured in auto accidents. While the best way to prevent deaths and injuries is to properly restrain children while they’re in the car, many caretakers fail to do so. A study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) revealed that more than 618,00 children ages 12 and under were unrestrained at least some of the time while riding in a vehicle.

“Take an extra moment to ensure all children in your vehicle are secured every time you drive somewhere. That extra few seconds could save their lives,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
