Get a Safe Ride Home After Your New Year’s Celebration

The Maximum Enforcement Period for the New Year’s holiday weekend began Friday at 6:01 p.m. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) will be on high alert for drivers who are under the influence, driving distracted, speeding or violating seat belt laws.

Last year during the New Year’s weekend in California, 27 people were killed in crashes and 920 were arrested for driving under the influence.

If you are planning to go out for New Year’s Eve, it’s important to plan a safe ride home ahead of time. If you know you will be drinking, be sure to have a designated driver who will not be drinking, or make plans to take a taxi or other public transportation method home.

If all else fails, call American Cab’s dispatch at (760) 300-000 anytime between 10 p.m. Saturday night and 3 a.m. Sunday morning and specify that you are calling for the “Home Safe” program. A cab will pick you up from your destination and provide you a free ride to your home or hotel within the Coachella Valley.
