Driver Plummets Off Highway in Fatal High Speed Wreck

A San Bernardino woman was killed in a high speed wreck on I-15 Tuesday afternoon. The woman was driving a 2016 Nissan Maxima southbound when she entered the center divider. Police say she was speeding down the divider, then the vehicle plummeted down an embankment and crashed onto Mission Boulevard.

Firefighters cut the driver from the vehicle, but she was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:53 p.m. Two tow trucks were required to remove the vehicle. The southbound fast lane was closed for several hours, backing up traffic for three miles to I-10.

California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers are unsure what caused the driver to enter the divider. Anyone who witnessed the high speed wreck or who has additional information is encouraged to call Riverside CHP at (951) 637-8000.

“Speeding contributes to 30% of all fatal crashes. If drivers would follow the speed limit, so many of these tragedies could be avoided,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
