Elderly Driver Killed in Oro Grande Crash

An elderly driver died in a head-on collision in Oro Grande Saturday evening. The coroner has identified 79-year-old Delmer Sills of Helendale as the victim of the fatal crash. Authorities say Sills was heading south on National Trails Highway in his Hyundai Tucson when he was struck head-on by a Toyota Camry.

Sills was extricated from his vehicle and transported to St. Joseph Health, St. Mary. He passed away from his injuries shortly after. The Toyota driver also required extrication from their vehicle. Authorities then airlifted the driver to a trauma center with unspecified injuries.
