Driver Swerves on Curvy Road, Causing Head-On Collision

Four people were hurt in a head-on collision in Cajon Pass last Sunday. The crash occurred around 6:49 p.m. on Cajon Boulevard and Keenbrook Road. A Ford sedan was heading north on Cajon Boulevard when it failed to navigate the curve in the road and swerved into southbound lanes. It then crashed head-on into an oncoming Ford Expedition.

According to a witness, the Expedition driver tried to swerve out of the way but was unable to avoid the head-on collision. The impact caused the Expedition to roll onto its roof. At least one person was extricated from the vehicle by San Bernardino County Fire. Four people were hospitalized for injuries ranging from minor to immediate. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is investigating the crash.

Driving on curvy roads can be hazardous if drivers are unable to properly navigate them. Here are 3 tips for driving on curves:

  1. Be aware of road signs indicating upcoming curves in the road and follow the speed limit for the curve.
  2. Slow down before entering a curve, not once you’re already driving on the curve. Usually there are road signs indicating sharp curves and suggesting a lower speed as you enter, but this might not always be the case, so you’ll need to use good judgment.
  3. Don’t brake hard in the middle of a curve. It’ll likely make your car skid out of your lane.

“Drivers need to be cautious and attentive when navigating curvy desert roads,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
