Driver Killed After Crashing into Unoccupied Car

A Victorville man died Sunday after he lost control of his vehicle and struck an unoccupied car. The fatal crash happened near the intersection of La Paz Drive and Avalon Avenue at 4:49 a.m. Police say the driver of a Honda Accord was traveling north on La Paz when he lost control.

The driver, 25-year-old Guillermo Barragan of Victorville, then struck an unoccupied Ford Fusion that was parked along the road. The crash impact sent the Ford roughly 100 feet into a residential yard.

Barragan was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the sole occupant of the Honda when the crash occurred. It is not yet clear why Barragan lost control of the vehicle and struck the unoccupied car.

Police shut down La Paz Drive for about six hours to investigate the fatal crash. The Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating the incident. Anyone with information can contact the Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station at (760) 240-7400.
