Three men were seriously injured in a high-speed crash in Reseda early Monday morning. Police say a Ford Mustang was speeding down Vanowen Street west of Tampa Avenue around 12:30 a.m. when it collided with a Nissan Altima. The Mustang then crashed into six parked vehicles on the street. The driver and a backseat passenger were ejected from the vehicle. The front seat passenger was not ejected but had to be extricated by firefighters.

Witnesses say the Mustang was going around 100 mph in a 35 mph zone right before the crash occurred. Two witnesses rendered aid to the men who had been ejected until paramedics arrived. All three victims were hospitalized. The two who were ejected are in critical condition; the man who was extricated is in stable condition.

Police are still investigating the high-speed crash, but alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor. None of the Mustang’s occupants were wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. According to witnesses, speeding is a common problem in the area that has even resulted in many residences putting fences around their homes.

“Speeding contributes to nearly 30% of fatal crashes, making it a serious, often deadly, problem. Drivers desperately need to slow down, especially on these residential roads,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
