Driver Dead, Passenger Critically Injured in I-10 Rollover Crash

One person was killed in an I-10 rollover crash in Whitewater Sunday afternoon. Police say 67-year-old Adam Peters of Palm Springs was traveling east in a silver Mercedes when the vehicle rolled over multiple times. Peters died at the scene. His wife, who was in the passenger seat, was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The fatal crash occurred around 4 p.m. just west of the Haugen-Lehmann exit. Police have not officially identified the cause of the I-10 rollover crash, but witnesses say the vehicle was speeding and the driver lost control. Wind could possibly have been a factor.

I-10 Rollover Prompts 2 Subsequent Crashes

Crews had a difficult time clearing the scene, as two additional crashes occurred shortly after the fatal crash. A second accident involved two vehicles, but details on that crash are scarce. The third accident occurred when a motorcyclist lost control while approaching the standstill traffic due to the road closure. The motorcyclist suffered moderate injuries.

Police reopened all lanes of traffic just before 5 p.m. The fatal accident remains under investigation.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the passenger who is still in the hospital,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
