An Apple Valley man was arrested Wednesday morning after he fled a traffic stop and initiated a police pursuit. Officials say 44-year-old Patrick Hughes made a lefthand turn at an intersection in Muscoy without using his turn signal. A deputy attempted to stop him around 12:50 a.m, but Hughes fled. Police say he was going over 60 MPH and that he ran two stop signs and hit a parked car.

Hughes lost control of his vehicle on Kern Street, crashing into a wall in front of a home. He then fled from officers on foot. Officers arrested him at the intersection of Bronson Street and Ogden Street. The investigation revealed Hughes was in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. He also had a felony warrant out for burglary charges. He was arrested for evading a peace officer and taken to Central Detention Center in San Bernardino.

“This crash is one of several that have occurred in recent days following police pursuits. Our thoughts and prayers are with the officers who are putting their lives on the line in these dangerous car chases,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group
