Distracted Driving Possible Factor in Two-Car Crash in Indio

One person was injured in a two-car crash in Indio Tuesday morning. The crash occurred at the intersection of Jefferson Street and Indio Boulevard just after 6:30 a.m. One person had to be cut from their vehicle and taken to the hospital for moderate injuries. The vehicles involved were a pickup truck and sedan, but other crash details are under investigation.

Police say alcohol and drugs were not factors in the two-car crash. However, they are considering distracted driving as a possible contributor to the crash.

Distracted driving is a growing problem in California that has not abated, despite legislation to prevent it, like the hands-free device law that went into effect in 2008. Drivers are still as distracted as ever, putting their lives and the lives of others on the road at great risk.

“The dangers of distracted driving cannot be overstated. Put away your smartphones and other devices and concentrate on the road,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
