Traffic was at a standstill Friday morning after a crashed pickup truck spilled firewood on I-10 in Palm Desert. The accident happened at 8:23 a.m. in the eastbound lanes just past the Monterey Avenue bridge.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a pickup truck hauling a trailer on eastbound I-10 spun out and struck a center guardrail. The trailer was carrying firewood, which spilled across the freeway during the crash. The eastbound fast lane and three westbound lanes were blocked due to the debris, creating a one-mile backup in both directions.

Westbound lanes were cleared within half an hour, but eastbound traffic was delayed longer while the crashed pickup truck was cleared. No one appears to have been injured in the accident.

“Encountering delays like this when you’re trying to get to your destination can be frustrating, but it’s especially important in these situations to pay attention and drive cautiously,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
