A bicyclist was airlifted to the hospital in Oro Grande Thursday after he was struck by a FedEx van Thursday afternoon. The bicycle accident happened on National Trails Highway just after 12:30 p.m.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a bicyclist traveling south on the shoulder apparently swerved into traffic. The bicyclist was then struck by a FedEx van. Authorities transported the bicyclist to a landing zone at the airport. A helicopter then airlifted the victim to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for his injuries.

The FedEx driver did not suffer any injuries. He also remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. The CHP continues to investigate the bicycle crash.
