Has Your Baby Bathtub Been Recalled?

Summer Infant is issuing a voluntary recall of the fabric slings used in its baby bath tubs. The sling is an accessory included in the Lil’ Luxuries Whirlpool, Bubbling Spa & Shower baby tubs.

The slings are included as an attachment for bathing newborns. According to Summer Infant, they are missing a clip that is supposed to connect the headrest to the bathtub. The defect causes the material to slip down the bathtub, which poses a drowning risk.

While no babies have reportedly drowned because of the defect, there have been 91 reports of the slings detaching. Eleven babies have bumped their heads due to the sling slipping.

The Lil’ Luxuries Whirlpool were sold at several retailers, such as Babies “R” Us, Buy Buy Baby and Walmart. The bathtubs included in the recall were sold between October 2012 and October 2013. If you own one of these products, stop using the sling immediately. Fill out the form on summerinfant.com to receive a free replacement sling.

“This defect poses a serious risk for infants. Please stop using this baby bath tub sling until you receive the replacement part,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
