2 Riverside County Drowning Incidents this Week

A woman was killed and a toddler hospitalized in two Riverside County drowning incidents this week.

A toddler was hospitalized Saturday after nearly drowning in a pool in Indio. Riverside County firefighters responded to a call on the 41200 block of Stimson Court, where a 3-year-old had been founding floating in a pool. A bystander rescued the child and performed CPR. The child was breathing when CalFire arrived and was then transported to the hospital in stable condition.

On Monday, a woman drowned in a La Quinta pool. The drowning happened in the 53000 block of Avenida Bermudas and was reported around 5:45 a.m. The woman died at the scene. Police are still investigating the drowning

Riverside County drownings are a serious concern that occur far too frequently every summer. In most situations, drowning is an accident that could have been prevented with proper pool safety precautions.
