2 Pedestrian Fatalities Happen Over the Weekend

Two pedestrian fatalities took place in the Low Desert and High Desert over the weekend. The first pedestrian crash occurred Friday night in Twentynine Palms. Police say a vehicle struck a man as he crossed Twentynine Palms Highway at Mesquite Avenue around 8 p.m.

The man suffered serious injuries and was taken to High Desert Medical Center. He died from his injuries shortly after. Authorities have not released the victim’s identity. Pedestrian Fatalities Occur in Twentynine Palms & Hesperia

The second pedestrian fatality happened in Hesperia early Saturday morning. According to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials, 31-year-old Enrique De La Torre suffered serious injuries after he was struck by a vehicle on the 8700 block of Third Avenue. The crash occurred just before 6 a.m. Police say a gray Toyota 4Runner was heading north on Third Avenue when it struck De La Torre in the roadway.

Authorities then transported the pedestrian to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. However, he passed away from his injuries some time on Sunday. Anyone with information about this pedestrian crash is asked to contact the Hesperia Sheriff’s Station at (760) 947-1500.
