14 DUIs Issued in High Desert During St. Patrick’s Holiday

California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers cited 14 drivers in the High Desert for driving under the influence during the St. Patrick’s holiday. Police arrested all 14 and cited them for DUI. The Victorville CHP provided increased enforcement during the popular drinking holiday weekend. The CHP specifically assigned officers to look out for signs of impaired driving.

There were no fatal traffic accidents in the High Desert during the St. Patrick’s holiday. It is unclear how many DUI-related crashes occurred in the area.

According to Victorville CHP spokesman Matt Hunt, public awareness plays a significant role in these increased enforcement efforts.

Drunk Driving Crashes Likely During St. Patrick’s Holiday

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, St. Patrick’s Day is one of the top 10 holidays associated with drunk driving crashes. While it is not the No. 1 drunk driving holiday, you are still at a greater risk of being involved in a drunk driving crash during the holiday than on other days of the year.

“The CHP has done a great job executing these increased enforcement periods and educating the public on drunk driving dangers,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
