A police chase suspect is dead following a violent crash in Hesperia Monday morning. The pursuit began near Main Street and Eleventh Avenue around 10 a.m. Deputies spotted the 26-year-old suspect driving a Honda Civic that had been reported stolen. According to the Hesperia Sheriff’s Station, deputies initiated a traffic stop and the man appeared to comply, pulling into a parking lot. However, he then sped from the parking lot onto Eleventh Avenue.

Police Chase Suspect Drove into Oncoming Traffic

As he approached Willow Street, the driver passed a vehicle and swerved into oncoming traffic. That’s when he crashed head-on with a southbound Volkswagen Jetta.

The driver died at the scene. Police have not yet released his identity. The Jetta driver and his passenger, Ana Ramirez de Franco and Jose Barba Franco, both sustained injuries in the crash. They were then airlifted to the hospital for treatment.

The fatal crash shut down the intersection of Eleventh Avenue and Willow Street for a few hours. The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the crash or the suspect should contact the Hesperia Sheriff’s Station at (760) 947-1500.
