Two people were killed in a big rig crash on I-15 Saturday night. California Highway Patrol (CHP) officials responded to the scene, north of Glen Helen Parkway, just after 9:30 p.m. Apparently a semi traveling northbound on the freeway was stopped in the No. 4 lane after having some mechanical failure. A woman in a Chevrolet Camaro struck the back of the semi.

The woman, a 30-year-old from San Bernardino, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her 9-year-old son was rushed to Community Hospital San Bernardino, where he died from his injuries shortly thereafter. A SigAlert was issued around 10 p.m. and the Nos. 3, 4 and 5 lanes were closed for several hours during the cleanup. The investigation of the big rig crash is ongoing.

“We’re devastated to hear about another tragic accident involving a big rig,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group. “Traffic moves so fast on these freeways and it can be difficult to stop quickly enough when vehicles ahead of you come to an abrupt stop. That’s why it’s so important to giving driving your full attention and avoid distractions.”
