The victim of a fatal crash in Desert Hot Springs Thursday has been identified as a missing Sky Valley man. Police say 20-year-old Arthur Pembrook crashed his Ford Taurus on Dillon Road near Long Canyon Road around 4:10 a.m. Thursday. Pembrook was reported missing Wednesday, and family and friends sought help finding him on social media.

The victim was discovered in his crashed vehicle Saturday morning. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:27 a.m. Police believe he was traveling east on Dillon Road when he drifted off the road into a ravine. His vehicle then struck a tree. The vehicle was not visible from the road, as it was covered in tree branches.

The fatal crash is under investigation. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), Pembrook was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be factors.

“Our condolences go out to the victim’s family and friends. We’re sorry that this was the outcome of the search,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
