Horse Struck by a Bus in Desert Hot Springs

A horse died and its rider was seriously injured after being struck by a bus in Desert Hot Springs Monday night. The crash occurred on Palm Drive at 20th Avenue around 8:30 p.m. The horse and rider were struck by a SunLine Transit Agency bus. The horse then ran away and was struck by a second vehicle. Police say the horse died at the scene.

The rider suffered major injuries after being struck by a bus. He was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center. The bus’s three passengers were not hurt in the crash.

According to authorities, horse riding is permissible on city streets. Riders are required to obey the same traffic laws as drivers. Police are still investigating the cause of this horse riding accident.
