High School Students Injured in School Bus Crash
High School Students Injured in School Bus Crash

Several students suffered injuries in a school bus crash in Hesperia Friday afternoon. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a school bus carrying 35 Hesperia High School students was traveling north on Oakwood Avenue. At the intersection with Pendleton Street, a Ford Escape heading west on Pendleton Street crashed into the right side of the bus.

Driver Failed to Stop at Stop Sign

Officers say the driver of the Ford failed to stop at the Pendleton Street stop sign. The crash pushed the bus into a nearby yard. It then crashed into a power pole and went through a chain link fence, stopping in a residential area.

The bus driver and five high school students were hospitalized for minor injuries. The driver of the Ford also sustained minor injuries.

Police shut down Oakwood Avenue between Pendleton Street and Mesa Street while they investigated. They do not suspect alcohol or drugs contributed to the school bus crash. However, it is still unclear why the Ford driver failed to stop at the intersection. Anyone with information can contact the Victorville CHP at (760) 241-1186.

“We’re grateful no one suffered major injuries in this crash. Drivers, people remain alert on the road and pay special attention to school buses, as well as students walking near schools,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
