Hesperia Hit-and-Run Driver Causes Downed Power Lines

An early morning hit-and-run crash on Wednesday in Hesperia caused downed power lines and led to a house catching fire. The crash happened just after 5:30 a.m. on Main Street when a driver struck a parked car and fled the scene. The impact sent the parked vehicle into a power pole. A transformer blew, power lines were downed and a house caught fire.

According to the Hesperia Sheriff’s Station, an occupant and dog were evacuated from the house and the fire was put out. Main Street was closed between Cottonwood Avenue and Hickory Avenue until an Edison crew arrived to repair the downed power lines, around 9 a.m. Morning traffic heading westbound on Main Street had to detour onto Hickory to get around the closure. No injuries were reported.

“Thankfully no one was hurt in this crash, but it could easily have resulted in injuries. We hope police are able to identify the hit-and-run driver responsible,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
