FedEx Driver Ejected in Crash
FedEx Driver Ejected in Crash

A FedEx driver was ejected from his truck in a December crash in Victorville. A 2014 Chevrolet Sonic allegedly ran a stop sign and crashed into the FedEx truck, throwing the driver from the truck. The crash happened at the Ottowa Road and Second Avenue intersection just before 2 p.m.

The driver of the Chevrolet was traveling south on Second Avenue when he ran the stop sign. The vehicle then collided with the eastbound FedEx truck. According to the truck driver, the other driver sped through the stop sign at a high rate of speed. He says the small dirt hill where the truck came to rest saved him from being crushed by the truck after he was ejected.

The Chevrolet driver was then taken to Desert Valley Medical Center for injuries including cuts to his arm. Meanwhile, medics treated the FedEx driver at the scene for minor injuries. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Victorville Station is investigating the crash.

FedEx Driver Had Right of Way

The intersection where the crash occurred is a two-way stop. The FedEx driver had the right of way, meaning the Chevrolet driver failed to yield, causing the crash.

“Considering the high risk of death or injury from being ejected from a vehicle, this driver was fortunate to come out virtually unharmed. While the accident was certainly not his fault, wearing a seat belt would likely have prevented him from being ejected. Hopefully he buckles up from now on,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
