Eggo Waffles Recalled for Listeria Contamination

Kellogg Co. is issuing a recall for 10,000 cases of waffles for a possible listeria contamination. The recall affects 10-count packs of Eggo Nutri-Grain Whole Wheat Waffles with expiration dates of November 21, 2017 and November 22, 2017.

Kellogg has not received any reports of illness related to the issue yet. The contamination was discovered during a routine test. Anyone who has the waffles should throw them away and contact Kellogg at (800) 962-1413 or via their website for a full refund.

In 2009, listeria contamination was found at a Kellogg plant in Atlanta, and the FDA sent the company a letter about its safety standards in 2010.

Exposure to listeria can cause severe symptoms that can even be fatal, especially for the elderly, pregnant women and people with weakened immune systems. Earlier this year, an Ohio woman died after she contracted an infection from a Dole packaged salad contaminated with the bacteria.

“Listeria can be very dangerous and cause serious illness. Be sure to dispose of any products that could be contaminated,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
