Drunk Driver Causes Three-Vehicle Crash in Victorville

Drunk driving is to blame for a three-vehicle crash in Victorville Saturday night. According to police, the driver of a 2016 Nissan Maxima ran a stop sign at the intersection of Amethyst Road and Northstar Avenue and crashed into a 2015 Nissan Versa at 8:17 p.m. The Versa then collided with a 2006 Nissan Maxima that was stopped in a turn lane.

Two occupants of the Versa were taken to Desert Valley Hospital for their injuries, and the 2016 Maxima driver was transported to Victor Valley Global Medical Center.

Officials determined the 2016 Maxima driver was driving under the influence when the three-vehicle crash occurred.

In California, it is illegal to operate a vehicle if you have a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) percentage of .08% or higher. According to the CDC, at .08% BAC, your muscle coordination decreases, judgment and memory are impaired, and you experience reduction in information processing capacity, perception and ability to concentrate. Nationally, drunk driving crashes killed 9,967 people in 2014, and more than 1.1 million drivers were arrested for DUI.

“We hope everyone injured in this crash recovers quickly. This accident is a glaring reminder of the dangers of drunk driving,“ said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
