Palm Springs Woman Hospitalized After 2-Car Crash
July 13, 2011
A Palm Springs, California, woman was hospitalized Friday after she was hit by a car while turning into a shopping center parking lot.
The crash occurred around noon along Vista Chino near Sunrise way, according to The Desert Sun. The woman was driving a white PT Cruiser eastbound but crossed into the westbound lanes as she attempted to enter a shopping center. A witness told The Desert Sun that the PT Cruiser was broad-sided by a westbound Acura.
The PT Cruiser then flipped over, coming to rest on its side in the center divider.
The driver of the PT Cruiser had to be transported to a hospital by ambulance with lacerations and minor bruises. The driver of the Acura was not seriously injured.
Witness Michael Rouff told The Desert Sun that this stretch of road is particularly dangerous.
“I’ve seen more accidents on this one stretch than anywhere else,” Rouff said. “There should be a light there.”
A portion of Vista Chino was briefly closed following the collision.
Do you think Vista Chino is a problematic road for Palm Springs drivers? What can be done to lessen the number of car accidents on this road?
