A pedestrian was struck and killed in Palm Springs Thursday afternoon. The fatal crash happened around 1 p.m. at the intersection of Vista Chino and Via Miraleste.

According to police, a black Dodge sedan was heading east on Vista Chino when it struck the pedestrian in the roadway. The pedestrian died at the scene. Police do not believe alcohol or drugs were involved in the crash. The driver of the Dodge stopped at the scene and cooperated with authorities.

The crash shut down Vista Chino from Agenda Caballeros to Via Miraleste for four hours.

With pedestrian crashes on the rise, it’s crucial for pedestrians and drivers alike to keep their roads safe for those on foot. Pedestrians can mitigate their risk of being struck by following pedestrian safety tips. Drivers can also ensure safer roadways for pedestrians by practicing safe driving around pedestrians.

“This is the most recent in a string of pedestrian crashes this week. We’re devastated that this continues to happen on our roads,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
