A driver is dead after an Air Expressway crash Saturday afternoon. Police identified 30-year-old Cornell McCarns as the victim of the fatal crash in Victorville. The collision occurred at 2:12 p.m. at the intersection of Air Expressway and Phantom West.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, McCarns was driving a Ford Mustang on Phantom West when he attempted a lefthand turn onto eastbound Air Expressway. He then collided with a Ford Explorer heading west on Air Expressway.

McCarns died at the scene. The driver of the Explorer was taken to Loma Linda University Medical Center for moderate injuries. Police say a female passenger in the Explorer might have been ejected from the vehicle. She was airlifted to the hospital with unknown injuries.

Who had Right of Way in Air Expressway Crash?

The Air Expressway crash remains under investigation. However, police are unsure which vehicle had the right of way. It is also possible that one of the drivers ran a red light, but it is unclear which driver might have done so.

“We offer our condolences to Mr. McCarns’ family. Our prayers are also with the two victims recovering in the hospital,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
