Two pedestrian accidents occurred Monday night in Victorville. The first crash left a 46-year-old man dead at the scene. Sheriff’s officials say Victorville resident Stacey Howard was struck as he was crossing Amargosa Road near Midtown Drive around 5:43 p.m.

According to a witness, the vehicle involved, a GMC minivan, was traveling south on Amargosa when it struck the pedestrian. The witness says the driver tried to swerve out of the way once he saw the pedestrian, but he was too late. The witness then attempted CPR on the pedestrian while waiting for first responders. The victim died at the scene. The driver was arrested for driving without a license. Amargosa Road was closed from Midtown Drive to Dakota Street through Tuesday morning for the investigation.

The second pedestrian accident happened at Seventh Street near Tatum Road around 11:10 p.m. The victim, a 22-year-old woman, was crossing the street when she was struck by a Nissan sedan. The woman was taken in critical condition to Victor Valley Global Medical Center and was later airlifted to Loma Linda University Medical Center. Seventh Street was closed from Victor Street to Lacy Street until 3:30 a.m.

“These pedestrian crashes are out of control. We have to work harder to stop this deadly trend,” said Attorney Walter Clark, founder of Walter Clark Legal Group.
