1 Dead, 2 Injured in Multiple Motorcycle Crashes Friday

Multiple motorcycle crashes occurred on I-10 Friday morning, causing injuries and one fatality. The first crash happened on eastbound I-10 east of the Bob Hope Drive interchange in Cathedral City, just before 8 a.m. The collision involved the motorcycle and a PT cruiser, but further details are unknown. However, the PT cruiser driver was arrested.

The accident shut down three eastbound lanes, causing a three-mile traffic backup. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) issued a SIG Alert following the deadly crash.

The second motorcycle accident occurred on Monroe Street in Indio near the eastbound I-10 off-ramp just after 8:30 a.m. Two motorcyclists suffered major injuries in the crash and were taken to Desert Regional Medical Center. The crash caused lane closures for about an hour.

A third crash also occurred on Monroe Street in Indio, fairly close to the second crash site. Motorcyclists were injured in the crash, but no other details are available yet. Police are investigating Friday’s multiple motorcycle crashes.
